Synapse has a query by example screen that allows you to construct a sql query by filling in some fields.  The example shows the sql actually generated by filling in the fields ...

and so in this example, we wish to see all female patients over the age of 50 whom we saw after the 1st Sept 2007 for a followup consultation, and where we discussed diabetes.
