Client Installation Checklist

Download Software

1. Synapse emr client installer from here

Installation

Run the Synapse Express installer.  It will install the following applications

1. Synapse.exe ( the actual client )
2. Ghostscript ( for creating pdfs )
3. GSView ( for previewing postscript documents )
4. Imagemagick ( for converting tiff and other image formats into jpeg )
5. Lame ( for turning wav files into mp3 files for smaller dictation files )
6. Jarnal - an inking application for tablets
7. Skype interface ( in Windows XP/2000 allows you to dial Skype numbers from Synapse and send SMS )

Accept all the default installation settings.  If you make changes, you will need to note these for subsequent configuration settings.

You can start the client from Start Menu/Synapse EMR Express/Synapse EMR Express 

NB:  If the client says it is too old, you will need to download the latest client from here.  Copy this file ( synapse.exe ) over the original synapse.exe in the c:\emr\client\ directory.
