Prescan Documents

It is generally not very efficient to have to type in a document name when scanning, and so when selecting a scanner, make sure that you purchase one that has a one button scan function.  Generally these allow you to insert a document, press the one touch scan button, and it will automatically scan the document to a preconfigured directory, or even ftp directory. The software tracks the document names to ensure that each file is unique, and can be set to scan in as PDF or JPEG.

Synapse can then import these scans into the database from this scan directory, and this is configured from Settings/User/Pport.Scans

Adding Metadata

If you have a secretary who imports your scanned images, she will more than likely just indicate what type of document you have, and allow you to add the metadata later on.  However, if you are doing this yourself, there is a popup and some buttons (>= R211B14)  that can help reduce your typing.

./add-metadata (1).png
The image shows the popup ( click on the lookup icon ) being used to enter some metadata.  Multiple items can be selected using the control key with the mouse.  Normal and abnormal can be inserted after each selection using the appropriate buttons.  Double clicking on an item in the popup inserts the value immediately without the need to click on the "Okay" button.
